Heber City (2010 population 11,362) is the county seat of Wasatch County (population 23,530).
Heber was settled in 1859 and named for LDS leader Heber Chase Kimball (June 14, 1801 - June 22, 1868). Wasatch County is named for the Wasatch Mountains that rise on the western strethes of the county.
Wasatch County was chosen for the crosscountry ski venues in the 2002 Winter Games. Since the Olympics, Wasatch County has been transforming from a rural farm community to a destination cross country skiing resort.
